Pretty pretty pleats
You might have realized how pleated skirts slowly have been making a comeback over the past years. So many colors to choose, with metallic recently dominating the market.
True, there are certain appeals of pleated skirts that you just can't resist. The thing I love most? It's remarkable versatility.
That I have limited space on my wardrobe, I happily choose to stay with this black Kate Spade and working my ways to create a couple of looks that work for different occasions.
The thing about putting together an office - look wearing such a feminine piece? The fun.
Don't pair it with another ultra-feminine, black tops full of frills and frocks. Don't go with white either. Opted for a hue that is dark enough to accentuate your whole - business - look, but at the same time, giving you a different perspective of harmony. For example dark blue.
And darling, choose your best weapons. A silky blouse paired with the best quality blazer you can afford should do the trick. (Here I opted for a silk blouse and a silk blazer).
Minimize your accessories but do play a bit. The skirt is feminine and playful enough; you don't need big bold earrings or necklace to stand out. Well, you could, of course, it's all about preferences.
I choose to compliment the look with a chunky watch and a statement color bag.
Skirt: Kate Spade. Silk blouse: PBO (Philosophy Blues Original). Silk blazer: Akris. Women's watch: Michael Kors. Sunglass: Céline. Velvet pumps: & Other Stories. Leather 'snakeskin - embossed' bag: Michael Kors. (All items are old collections of mine - the bag was an old one, recently being given to me as a gift)
A FAMILY AFFAIR
The word a family affair for me typically rings a particular alarm,
especially if everybody is there. There is not too much room for experiment without perhaps drawing a lot of attention to your side. So, I often choose to stay on my classic, conservative side when it comes to a family occasion.
Naturally, however, I love statement pieces. That is why this blue Balenciaga blouse is a perfect way to go for me. I like the unusual large button at the very top; giving the little tweak without crossing the other side. Accessorize with a pair of long black earrings, a casual bag, and kitten pumps if you are aiming for a modest and lovely look.
Blouse: Balenciaga. Earrings: Amrita Singh. Pumps: Högl. Bag: MCM.
Ahh, this is my favorite part. There are tons of rooms for experiments! So what can we possibly wear with a black, flared pleated skirt that screams fun?
A sweater would do. A sweater with fun colorful prints on top that is. And why not go all the way pairing them with a fun bag and a simple slip-on?
Sweater: MSGM. Bag: Accessorize. Slip-on: Céline. Sunglass: Mango.
Any style you would do this skirt differently? Tell me your ideas!
